SPIFE Touch Lipoprotein
SPIFE Touch Lipoprotein – 80 Sample
Why choose the SPIFE Lipoprotein assay?
Advances in lipid research and availability of new therapies continue to make accurate lipoprotein phenotyping essential. SPIFE Lipo separates lipoproteins into alpha, pre-beta and beta lipoproteins as well as chylomicrons. Precise temperature control results in crisp, clear separations. Samples are stained off-line using traditional Fat Red 7B stain. Up to 80 samples can be separated in about 40 minutes.
What makes Lipoproteins important?
Lipoprotein electrophoresis has long played a vital role in identifying hyperlipoproteinemia, a group of lipid disorders that differ significantly in presentation, prognosis, and treatment response. Since the Fredrickson and Lees classification was introduced in 1965, researchers have strengthened the link between dietary fats, elevated blood lipids, and the development of atherosclerosis, one of the leading causes of cardiovascular disease and stroke. Because only certain phenotype types (II, III, and IV) are directly associated with atherosclerotic risk, accurate phenotyping is essential before initiating therapy. Plasma lipids circulate bound to proteins as distinct lipoprotein fractions, each comprising specific proportions of cholesterol, triglycerides, phospholipids, and other components. While several methods exist to separate these fractions, ultracentrifugation and electrophoresis remain the most widely used; with the SPIFE Touch Lipoprotein assay providing a reliable, streamlined approach for clear lipoprotein fractionation.
