QuickGel Cholesterol Profile

Smaller laboratories can now offer a complete lipid profile using the proven technology of the Helena Cholesterol Profile. QuickGel Cholesterol allows direct - not calculated - simultaneous measurement of HDL, LDL, VLDL and Lp(a) Cholesterol. Direct measurement of these cholesterol fractions is the only way to correctly adjust treatment of the CVD patient and assess risk for the new patient. Recent publications have proven the lipoprotein(a) is a causative factor for coronary disease and should be part of any risk assessment. It is also important to screen menopausal women for Lp(a) cholesterol levels. Because the Helena Cholesterol Profile assay measures the cholesterol content of the Lp(a) fraction and is unaffected by isoform size, it has been proven analytically superior to mass assays.
